Mumbai – The NCP has hit out at MNS chief Raj Thackeray for telling his workers to not pay toll even if that means resorting to violence. “Raj Thackeray is always looking out for means to get cheap publicity. He must refrain from such acts,” said NCP leader Tariq Anwar.

NCP leader Nawab Malik said, “This is some sort of competition between the Shiv Sena and MNS as to who will spread more violence. If they have issues, they should talk to the Chief Minister.”

This came after activists of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena went on a rampage, vandaling toll plaza offices in Thane, Airoli and Nagpur. This came after MNS chief Raj Thackeray announced that his party workers will not pay toll fees even if it means resorting to violence.

“I am instructing all MNS workers, colleagues and people not to pay toll at any toll booth in Maharashtra from now on.If someone opposes you, fight them,” Thackeray said.

Thackeray said this during the inauguration of the MNS office in Vashi. Party insiders say they will intensify their agitation from Monday. Security has been increased at toll booths.

This comes days after MNS workers had allegedly vandalised the Katai Toll Naka in Dombivali in the Thane district in protest against poor road condition and illegal toll collection. Police had arrested 20 people and registered a case against them.

Not just the MNS, the Shiv Sena too had attacked four toll booths in Kolhapur earlier in January.
