RJD chief Lalu Prasad recalls Syedna’s contribution
New Delhi – RJD chief Lalu Prasad today condoled the demise Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin, spiritual leader of the Dawoodi Bohra community, saying his message and ideology are all the more relevant today when “attempts are being made to push the country into flames of communalism”.
“Syedna was a great spiritual leader, who always encouraged propagation of human values. Today when an attempt is being made to push the country into the flames of communalism, the message and ideology of Burhanuddin is all the more important,” Prasad said.
The 102-year-old spiritual leader died yesterday after a cardiac arrest at his residence in South Mumbai. Recalling his association with Syedna, the RJD chief said that the spiritual leader had come to Patna years back drawing a stream of visitors.
“I and my wife Rabri Devi had gone to take his blessings there…. I am deeply pained over his demise,” he said extolling the philanthropic work done by Syedna.
The RJD chief also conveyed condolences to the families of the eighteen people, who were killed in a stampede when thousands of people gathered to pay last respects to the spiritual leader in Malabar Hill area here in the wee hours today.
RJD leader and former minister Prem Chand Gupta lauded the late spiritual leader saying he always encouraged his followers to maintain sobriety in life and work for the welfare of the people.
