Goa governor concerned over rising crime against women
Panaji – An increase in crimes against women and children is a matter of concern, Goa Governor B.V Wanchoo said Tuesday in his New Year message.
“There was an unfortunate increase in incidents of crime, especially against our children and women. It should be our concern to arrest and control such socially-undesirable incidents, for which the cooperation and support of the people is essential,” the governor said.
The BJP-led coalition government in Goa has been receiving flak on the law and order situation with an increase in rapes as well as thefts and robberies.
Wanchoo, however, said that the state government was able to maintain “overall peace and harmony” and also described Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s leadership as “able and spirited”.
“Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar strives hard to serve the general public with genuine concern,” Wanchoo said.
