Home Secretary Niranjan Mardi shifted, Bansal new Chennai Metro Rail MD
The Tamil Nadu Government has transferred Home Secretary Niranjan Mardi, who held the post for seven months, with effect from Tuesday.
Apurva Varma, till now Principal Secretary (Higher Education), succeeds Dr. Mardi, who has been made Principal Secretary/Commissioner of Economics and Statistics, according to an official order issued by Chief Secretary Sheela Balakrishnan.
Among other changes at the level of officers of the Indian Administrative Service is the posting of Pankaj Kumar Bansal as Managing Director of Chennai Metro Rail. Mr. Bansal was Project Director of the Tamil Nadu Health Systems Project.
K. Rajaraman, who was holding three posts — Managing Director of Chennai Metro Rail and Principal Secretary in the Special Initiatives Department besides officiating as Member Secretary of the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, would be the new Principal Secretary/Commissioner of Commercial Taxes.
He replaces K. Manivasan, who has been posted as State Commissioner for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons.
V. Irai Anbu, till now Principal Secretary/Commissioner of Economics and Statistics, has been transferred as Principal Secretary/Director of the Anna Institute of Management.
V.K. Jeyakodi, who had been functioning as State Commissioner for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, has been appointed Member Secretary of the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu.
N.S. Palaniappan, Principal Secretary (Rural Development and Panchayat Raj), has been given full additional charge of Principal Secretary (Higher Education).
