India’s ‘Liar’s Dice’ to compete at Sundance fest
New Delhi – Malayalam actress Geetu Mohandas’ directorial debut “Liar’s Dice” has been selected for the competition section of the Sundance Fil! m Festival.
The festival will held Jan 16-26, 2014 in Salt L! ake City, Utah.
“Liar’s Dice”, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Geetanjali Thapa and Manya Gupta, will be featured in the “World Cinema Dramatic Competition”.
“I am thrilled about Sundance. Even though we worked in the most difficult terrain, the shooting experience was very enjoyable. Sundance is an added feather in the ‘Liar’s Dice’ experience for all of us,” Mohandas said in a statement.
The film tells a story of a young tribal mother who, along with her three-year-old daughter, embarks on a journey in search of her missing husband and encounters an army deserter who decides to accompany them to their destination.
“The travel story stretching from a small village, Chitkul on the Indo-Tibet border to the industrial city Delhi is set against the alarming backdrop of the socio-political conditions of India where millions of labourers go missing and are considered just a number in government records,” she said.
Alan McAlex has co-p! roduced the film with Ajay G. Rai for their banner Jar Pictures.
