Bitcoin price tops $1k for first time ever!
Washington – The price of bitcoins reportedly topped 1,000 dollars for the first time ever.
The experimental digital currency first hit 100 dollars in April and doubled the same month, and the price has increased fivefold in the seven months since.
According to Mashable, across the bitcoin exchanges, the average price is still slightly lower than the 1,000 dollar mark.
The price of the bitcoins has experienced significant fluctuations amid uncertainty about the viability of the digital currency.
The surge in the price of bitcoin follows a US government hearing into the virtual currency, some notable stories of average people getting rich on the currency and efforts of a few big name investors and startup founders to bring bitcoin to the mainstream, the report added.
