Saradha scam: Suspended Trinamool MP Kunal Ghosh arrested
Suspended Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh was arrested on Saturday after the investigating authorities found prima facie evidence against him in connection with the Saradha Ponzi scam.
Briefing reporters, Arnab Ghosh, Deputy Commissioner, Detective Department of the Bidhannagar City Police, said: “Prima facie evidence indicates that Kunal Ghosh played an equal part in the conspiracy.”
The Saradha group, which allegedly duped people of over Rs. 2,300 crore through its various Ponzi schemes, went bust in April. Mr. Ghosh, who was once very close to the party, was the Group CEO of Saradha’s media outfits.
“One-sided case”
Reacting to his arrest, Mr. Ghosh said: “I have been arrested wrongfully. I am an employee of the media group, not associated with the chit funds. The police are trying to protect some people and put up a one-sided case.”
Trinamool MP Derek O’Brien said: “We believe law will take it own course… the law is the same for everyone.”
