So-called clean AAP leaders are indulging in malpractice: Khurshid
New Delhi – External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid on Saturday criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the wake of a sting operation nailing eight AAP leaders.
“Anybody can desist a sting operation. There have been a lot of debates whether it is good or bad. But what is a sting operation; it is the truth. You have to answer, whether money was taken or not,” said Khurshid.
“Parties get funds but they have to maintain proper accounts, and have to give a receipt for it. We all wan an unbiased mechanism, through which parties can get funds, and simultaneously, public can also check that,” said Khurshid.
“These so-called honest leaders have now themselves indulged in malpractice. They can only point fingers at others,” said Khurshid.
“They claim all the time that theirs is a party of honest leaders. Now they say that the sting is not correct. But the issue is whether money was taken or not. Other than this, they also have to answer the allegations made by Anna Hazare. They say they will conduct an internal inquiry, but they end it after sometime,” said Khurshid apparently referring to the allegations over the issue of use of Anna Hazare’s name by AAP leaders for collecting funds.
The eight AAP leaders were contacted for their help in the recovery of money from individuals and getting land deals done, and they readily agreed to extend their support in return of donations in cash to the AAP.
