Wenger backs Walcott to lead Arsenal to PL title after recovering from injury
London – Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that the return of Theo Walcott can prevent him from making an expensive transfer mistake in January and was delighted to see him available after recovering from injury.
According to SportsMole.co.uk, the 24-year-old has been unable to play for the last two months after sustaining an abdominal injury, but he has been named in the squad for this weekend’s match against Southampton.
Wenger said that Walcott is one of the players who go behind the defence without the ball, adding that strikers who get behind the defenders are very good and the player has that quality.
He added that Arsenal missed a player like Walcott, as he had a good start to the season, scored goals, provided chances and had assists and he could lead the club to the Premier League title.
Arsenal is currently top of the league ahead of Saturday’s home game against the Saints, the report said.
