Washington – A new study has rebuked claims made in a British documentary that young King Tutankhamun passed away because of his deadly injuries that resulted from a horrific crash with a speeding chariot.

Researchers, who had made the claim, explained that the accident had crushed the pharaoh’s rib cage and many of his internal organs, including his heart.

However, Salima Ikram, professor of Egyptology at the American University in Cairo, told Discovery News that it is not the first time that the chariot-theory has come to light.

Ikram asserted that it is impossible to say that Tut’s internal organs were crushed until the canopic jars containing his organs are properly examined.

Head of the Centre for Evolutionary Medicine at the University of Zurich, Frank Ruhli, agreed with Ikram’s view, adding that the mechanism of explanation for the accident is not fully provable.
