Now, app to unlock your Mac by tapping on your iPhone!
Washington – A new app has been developed that allows Mac users to unlock their system with a simple tap on their iPhone.
Dubbed Knock, it is a combo iPhone/Mac app works by pairing the Mac computer with the iPhone.
According to Mashable, the app syncs 2011 or new MacBook Air, Mac mini, 2012 or newer iMac or the upcoming Mac Pro with iPhone 4S and later models.
The app is available for 3.99 dollars and uses Bluetooth Low Energy to sync the gadgets.
The report said that the two Knock apps create a secure connection with one another and when a user ‘knocks’ on the screen of the phone, it transmits the unlock key to the Mac instantly.
As the app uses Bluetooth LE, it works within the range of about 20 feet or so without obstructions.
However, the app won’t work until the user has logged in once, or when the user switches from one account to an unpaired account.
The advantage is that if a user loses their phone, or it is out of battery, they can still enter the password manually as usual and unlink the iPhone in case of theft, the report added.
