Islamabad – A Pakistani court has extended the custody of former President retired General Pervez Musharraf in the 2007 Lal Masjid raid case, banning him from leaving the country any time soon.

Investigation officer Iftikhar Chattha said that the investigation mosque case was not yet over, and Musharraf’s custody was extended till October 29 by the judicial magistrate, the Daily Times reports.

According to the report, the court ordered that the Lal Masjid case hearings relating to the murder of cleric Abdul Rasheed Ghazi and his mother would be held at Musharraf’s Chak Shahzad farmhouse , which presently holds the status of a sub-jail.

Musharraf was arrested two weeks ago in the 2007 mosque raid case after being granted bail in another, unrelated case.

The cleric’s son, Haroon Rasheed, had approached the Islamabad High Court on September 2 for registration of an FIR against Musharraf for launching the Lal Masjid operation in 2007 killing 103 people, including Rasheed Ghazi, as well as 11 military men. (ANI)
